Groves Florist Retires After 30 Years

Barbara Leaving Groves

10:00am 4th February 2013

Groves Nurseries in Bridport are saying goodbye to a valued member of staff who's retiring after 30 years.

Barbara Elliot began working at Groves Nurseries for the current managers Grandfather, Charles William Groves back in the early eighties.

She was employed to look after the now famous Violet collection when Groves looked after the walled garden at Little Wych on Burton Road.

Whilst Barbara has looked after violets for both Charles William and his son Clive Watt, she was also the florist at Groves.

She regularly made pieces for both Bridport funeral directors; Downs and Wakleys.

Since then she's also been Groves' florist and was commissioned to make a posy of violets that was presented to the Queen for her diamond jubilee.
