Rescued Sea Birds Treated For Burns

8:13am 5th February 2013

Sea birds affected by pollution off the Dorset coast are being treated for harsh skin burns.

There's concern the dangerous substance, which is thougt to be refined mineral oil, could harm humans too.

The Dorset Wildlife Trust say the mineral substance found on the Guillemots and other species affected, has caused burns to their legs.

They say the oil is potentially harmful to us too, although no injuries have been reported.

The number of injured birds washed up on Weymouth and Portland beaches has fallen dramatically, leading to fears of more struggling out at sea.
