Dorset has a new Chief Constable.
Debbie Simpson was confirmed to the post by the Police Crime Panel at County Hall this morning (Thursday 7th February) after fielding a series of questions about her suitability for the role.
The panel, that's made up of local authority members, retired to consider its verdict and voted unanimously in her favour.
Dorset's Police and Crime Commissioner Martyn Underhill recommended her for the post and said 'Debbie Simpson is the right person to lead the force through challenging times".
Chief Constable Simpson said; "I am delighted to have been formally appointed today as the Chief Constable of Dorset Police."
"Since joining the force I have been hugely impressed by the high performance of the force and the commitment of all the staff, officers and volunteers."
"I am acutely aware of the challenges that are ahead in what is a very uncertain time for the police service as a whole and I am committed to delivering to the residents of Dorset the best policing service possible."
