"In-Land Flood Defences Need Improvement in Burton Bradstock"
3:23pm 8th February 2013
The leader of a flood watch group in Burton Bradstock is disappointed the government isn't investing in inland flood defences.
It was announced yesterday (Thursday 7th February) over 25 million pounds is going to be spent on protecting the coastline in the South West.
But parish Councillor and flood warden for Burton Bradstock Keith Delves told Wessex FM it's not just the coast that's at risk; "Our main issue is the rising of the River Bride which caused major flooding last July, but also the amount of water running down off North Hill, and we have a scheme which we've been trying to get done for some time now."
The villages local flood group have been campaigning to improve defences for 7 years.
They'll meet West Dorset District Council about a proposed flood prevention scheme later the year.
