Dorset Councillors Encouraged to Make Valentines Pledge over Budget Cuts

Demo

7:21am 14th February 2013

Dorset Councillors will be asked to share the love today by signing a Valentine 's Day card for members of UNISON.

It follows a protest over budget cuts in Dorchester and Poundbury last Saturday (9th February).

The Trade Union wants local authority members to sign the card - which reads I Refuse to Cut Anymore - and show public opposition to planned cutbacks to local services.

Pamela Jefferies, Branch Secretary for UNISON said, "The local community gave us lots of support on Saturday when we march through Dorchester and Poundbury.

"The public are tired of hearing worn out excuses of how the poorest and most vulnerable in society must pay for the mistakes of the most wealthy and powerful bankers."

Pamela continued to state to need for public services, "The Public know these services are not luxuries; they are the essential services that help people live quality lives."
