Force Honours Special Constable

A special constable from Wareham has been honoured for his work by Dorset police.

Deputy Section Officer Glen Caddy was named  Special Constable of the Year at the force's annual awards ceremony this week.

Glen worked an average of 40 hours a week unpaid, attending almost 500 incidents, including enetering a burning building to save the occupant and saving the life of a man who had taken an overdose.

The officer also led the Purbeck Special Constabulary Team in targetted initiatives to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.

A total of 17 awards were presented at the event held at the Dorford Centre, Dorchester.
