Volunteers Wanted For Chesil Beach Centre
9:50am 25th February 2013
(Updated 9:52am 25th February 2013)
The Chesil Beach Centre is angling for more volunteers.
They need people willing to meet and greet visitors, run the shop and keep an eye on the local wildlife.
The visitor and wildlife centre was reopened last year after extensive rebuilding, and they are expecting 2013 to be a very busy year.
Emily Brown, Discover Chesil Officer at Dorset Wildlife Trust, told Wessex FM, "Chesil Beach and its lagoon are very special places for wildlife and geology, and we try to communicate this to our huge range of visitors. No experience is necessary - all training is provided. All you need is an appreciation and enthusiasm for the local area, and to like talking to people. Come and join us!"
Long term volunteer Jenny Harris, from Weymouth, added, "It is a lovely place to come and enjoy the peace and wonderful views and to meet interesting people".
A volunteer training session will be held on Thursday 28th February from 3.30pm until 6 pm at the Centre, situated halfway along the causeway from Weymouth to Portland on the A354 (Portland Road).
