Fight To Save Maiden Newton At War
2:47pm 26th February 2013
One of West Dorset's most successful summer events is facing a crisis.
Maiden Newton at War, is a re-enactment that takes visitors back to the 1940's to mark the villages war effort. It's held every 2 years and runs over a long weekend featuring WW2 battle performances, lots of live 1940s music and trade stalls plus many other themed attractions.
Current event manager and Chairman Andy Elliot is stepping down from the post, putting the future of the event in doubt.
The organising committee is looking for a new chairperson and event manager.
Andy said; "This event demands a lot from the manager, but is terrifically rewarding. Large crowds turn up to enjoy some of the best bits of the forties; the music, the fashions and the unique atmosphere. The battle re-enactments are a reminder of the conflict and the suffering that we should never forget. This event is in danger of being lost without a new manager, could this be you?"
If you are interested in taking this on for the next event planned for 2014 then please contact Andy on 07967504716.
He will be pleased to discuss this with you, but be quick as the committee meet on Thursday of this week to decide upon the future of the event.
