Action's being taken after Weymouth has been hit by a series of burglaries.

Safer Neighbourhood teams are encouraging residents in Preston to secure their garages and sheds.

A public meeting is being held tonight to share crime prevention advice.

The meeting's in Preston Village Hall from 6pm.

Tools and push bikes were some of the items that were reported as stolen.

Safer Neighbourhood Team Beat Manager, Police Constable Sally Ludlow, said: "We are encouraging the public to review their security. Garages should be as secure as your home, especially if there is anything of value inside."
