Health professionals have met in Dorchester to talk over the issue of drug use.
Dorset's Drug and Alcohol Action team hosted a conference at Kingston Maurward College to discuss ways of tackling substance abuse.
The local treatment service is one of the best in the country.
Commissioning Officer Stuart Burley says hosting conferences to discuss the issue with partners and professionals is important in the fight against drugs and booze. He also thinks clamping down on drug misuse will help stamp out local crime in Dorset.
"One of the biggest issues, particularly drug addiction is crime. £1 invested in treatment saves £5.47 in crime and health costs in the county. So it's about preventing long term health problems and lowering the impact of crime on individual's families and communities."
