No Legal Action to be brought against Weymouth Councillor in Costa Coffee Row

2:05pm 7th March 2013
(Updated 2:29pm 7th March 2013)

Costa Coffee says they won't bring legal action against a Weymouth and Portland Councillor who published controversial comments about their staff on Facebook.

Councillor Peter Chapman came under fire after a private post he made on the social networking site weeks ago, was leaked to the press.

In it, he criticised staff at the Dorchester branch.

He's told Wessex FM anyone who knows him, knows the comments weren't to be taken seriously and they were made in jest.

The Tory has since apologised.

A Costa spokesperson has told us; "we’re sorry to learn that Councillor Peter Chapman did not enjoy his visit to our Costa store in Dorchester. However, we do not condone any of Councillor Chapman’s comments."
