11:03am 9th March 2013

It's give or take day in Chickerell. (Saturday 9 March)

A special event is being put on at Willowbed Hall in Putton Lane.

You can take along items you don't want - and pick up something else instead for free.

West Dorset and Weymouth and Portland Borough Council have organised the swap shop to help reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.

Even if you have nothing to bring, you are welcome to come and take what you fancy.

You can bring:

- Clothes
- Books
- Toys
- Tools
- Bric-a-brac
- Kitchenware
- Small furniture (must fit in a car)
- Jewellery
- Bikes and bike parts
- Plants
- Working electrical equipment (must fit in a car)
Refreshments and cakes will be available to purchase on the day from the WI.

Advice about how to reduce your waste will also be available from council representatives. Information on local recycling schemes, stopping junk mail and reusable nappies will be on offer.

The event, which is free-to-enter, will be held at Willowbed Hall, Putton Lane, Chickerell, from 9.30am-12 noon on Saturday 9 March.
