An angler on-board a Weymouth boat has had to be evacuated to hospital after falling ill.

The chartered vessel Super Nova called the Coastguard for emergency assistance when they were 16 nautical miles off Portland Bill yesterday (Saturday 9th March).

The skipper was connected to a doctor at Queen Alexanders Hospital, Portsmouth who recommended evacuation.

Portland's Coastguard Rescue Helicopter flew the casualty to Dorset County Hospital where they were met by Wyke Coastguard Rescue Officers.
