Have You Seen Dorchester's Basil Brush?
6:20pm 19th March 2013
A 43 year old collection stand has gone missing from it's home in Dorchester over the weekend.
The 4 foot tall Basil Brush charity box has stood outside the Horse with the Red Umbrella since the seventies.
It's thought to be fairly heavy and contain around £30 to £40 since it was last emptied 5 months ago.
John who works at the cafe on High West Street in the town tells Wessex FM Basil is being truly missed:
"Since the Horse with the Red Umbrella's been here in 1970 Basil's been here - that's 43 years. All the kids love him. Every time they pass by they stroke him and cuddle him and put pennies in. It's for a good cause as well."
He was last seen outside the cafe on Saturday at around 4.30pm. He has since been spotted outside sitting outside Lloyds Bank on Sunday afternoon.
Staff and customers remain hopeful of his return and urge anyone who's seen Basil to get in touch.
