12:36pm 22nd March 2013
A man's been arrested in connection with a car crash that killed a 16 year old girl just outside North Dorset.
It comes after a nationwide manhunt to find the driver of a Volvo car.
Jade Clark from Ringwood died in a collision on the A31 on the Dorset side of the border a month ago. She suffered fatal head injuries after being knocked off her scooter and hit by multiple cars.
The first vehicle involved in the collision - a Volvo - fled the scene before the Police arrived.
A 15 thousand pound reward was put-up to find the driver and Officers ruled out 950 vehicles in their massive search.
Yesterday morning (Thursday 21st March) Police arrested a 58 year old man from Kent and his car has been seized. He's currently helping Officers with their enquiries.
Inspector Matt Butler, of the Dorset Police Traffic Unit, said: “I can confirm that a man is in custody and is being questioned by investigators.
“His vehicle, a Volvo XC90, has been seized and this will now be forensically examined by specialists.
“I would like to thank the local community for their assistance in this investigation so far.
“I would, however, continue to urge anyone who believes they have information about this collision – and has yet to speak with police – to come forward.”
Jade's funeral is due to take place this afternoon (Friday 22nd March).
