American Firm To Take Over Search And Rescue Service
8:07am 26th March 2013
Portland's search and rescue helicopter base will closed and be replaced by an American Firm operating from Lee-on-Solent.
The Government has awarded the contract to run the UK's search-and-rescue helicopter's to Bristow.
It'll end 70 years of missions by the RAF and Royal Navy.
The Portland base will close in 2015.
That's when Texas-based Bristow will start work after striking a ten year deal worth more than one and a half billion pounds.
