Weymouth's main town centre will now be without 2 of its oldest stores on St Mary's Street.
Jeweller H Samuels and retailer Mothercare have both announced they're leaving their stores and will be gone in a matter of weeks.
The news comes as a blow to Weymouth and adds to a growing number of empty shops around town.
H Samuel has been trading for 20 years.
Chairman of the Weymouth Chamber of Commerce Mark Blunden told Wessex FM it's not the time to be downhearted; "This latest news is not good for morale and is very disappointing but we must pull together, the chamber the BID and other parties in town. We need to discuss ways to get people back into town, major businesses and retailers."
Co-ordinator of the Weymouth BID Nigel Reed backed Mr Blunden's comments; "We need to start promoting Weymouth and getting people-in to increase footfall. We all need to work together and do something about it."
A spokesman for H Samuels said in a statement to wessex FM.
"We continually re-assess our portfolio of stores on a store by store basis, particularly when individual store leases come up for renewal.
This particular closure bears no reflection upon the future plans of the Signet business estate overall within the UK."
