New Boss For Dorset Bin Men

10:48am 4th April 2013

The people who collect our rubbish are now county council employees.

West Dorset and Weymouth and Portland councils have just transferred responsibility for waste, street and seafront cleaning to the Dorset Waste partnership, bringing them in line with other local authorities in Dorset.

The aim's to save £ 2 million a year and increase the county's recycling rate from 50% to 65% by 2016.

The partnership says there won't be any noticeable changes yet. DWP says its' Recycle for Dorset' collection service will include Weymouth and Portland next year, while West Dorset will join the scheme in 2014/15.
