Dorset Mums Start Exercise Class For Children
7:01am 7th April 2013
Four local Mums have grouped together to start up their own exercise classes for kids.
They are called the 'Fizzy Boppers' and they meet every week in different locations around Dorset.
The classes are high-energy and involve dancing, and using instruments and props.
Kim, one of the founding Mum's, told Wessex FM "We started the Fizzy Boppers in response to the fact that we couldn't find a dance group we wanted to send our children to. We just wanted something a bit high energy, a bit more lively than ballet perhaps, a lot of us had boys and we wanted something a bit more for both sexes."
There are themed-songs and dances which change every ten weeks. The Mums choreograph the dances themselves.
Kim continued to add that, "There is a close community feel. The last twenty minutes of the session is normally tea and cakes, so it's really sociable, that was a really important aspect to us actually. We didn't want people to just come and go, we wanted people to get to know each other. New people should not be anxious about joining because we'll spot you sitting on your own and come and say 'Hi' straight away."
The sessions are held in Maiden Newton, Dorchester and Netherbury. Classes are £3 per family, no matter how many children you bring.
