Will Businesses Back The Dorchester BID?
7:44am 16th April 2013
The Director of Projects at the Dorchester BID says they have wide support from local businesses, but there's more work to do.
The future of the Business Improvement District hangs on the result of a re-ballot in June.
Last month a survey asking levy payers how they've benefited from the BID was sent out but less than half were returned by shop owners.
Phil Gordon is Director of Projects at the Dorchester BID says most traders still support their work and the feedback from the surveys was mostly positive:
"We can always try and work with a business that will work with us, but there will always be some that don't want to work with us. I'd say if Dorchester was to lose its BID it would be a disaster".
Plans to improve Dorchester's high-street go before the District Council for final approval today (Tuesday 16th April).
Today's meeting is to ensure their ideas don't encroach on any policy formally adopted by the local authorities.
