Dorset beach cleaners are celebrating 25 years of cleaning the regions coastline today.
As part of the "Litter Free Coast and Sea" campaign organised by the Council's coastal ranger team, volunteers will be scouring 25 beaches, ridding them of any debris.
As an added incetive, local cafes, pubs and restaurants are offering discounted meals to those taking part.
Since 1988, over fourteen thousand people have taken part in beach cleans, collecting 19,681 bags of rubbish. The most recent haul of litter collected items from as far afield as Russia.
Jenney Penney, the council's coastal ranger for Purbeck, said:
"It's vital that we keep cleaning beaches to make them safe for people and wildlife as well as maintaining their beauty. By helping monitor and pick up litter on our beaches, people can make a real difference."
