3:33pm 29th April 2013

Weymouth and Portland Police and borough council are setting up a local crime prevention panel.

The panel will work along side the police, working on projects and initiatives to support the community.

They will also be helping to reassure those who have been, or live in fear of being victims of crime.

Neighbourhood Inspector Les Fry is confident that this panel of volunteers will help keep the area safe.

"I have worked with crime prevention panels previously and they do make a difference."

"i welcome this new initiative and very much look forward to working and supporting the panel in months to come."
