Dorset Stays True Blue

The Conservatives have held control of Dorset County Council.
Dorset’s still waking up true blue this morning, with the Tories winning 27 out of the 45 seats on Dorset County Council.
There was one loss for the Lib Dems, who remain the second largest party with 12 seats.
Labour made gains in Weymouth and Portland, winning 3 seats in the Borough.
And Dorset now has its first UKIP Councillor with Ian Smith taking the seat for Ferndown.

The make up of the new county council is:
Conservative = 27
Liberal Democrat = 12
Labour and Co-operative = 2
UKIP = 1
Of the 45 newly elected members of the council, 18 will be new faces.
A total number of 125,682 votes were cast in the county council elections across Dorset. Overall turnout was 37.86 per cent, compared to 43.22 per cent in 2009.
