Green Party Visit Prompts Debate on Renewable Energy Schemes

The leader of the Green Party says Dorset is missing out on an untapped energy resource.
Natalie Bennett has made her first official trip to Portland.
She told Wessex FM investment in wind and tidal energy off the coast could create new jobs and boost the local economy.
Leader Natalie said community energy schemes are something the Greens are backing; "What we'd like to see happening is more community energy. For example in Lewis, there's a really good solar panel scheme whereby the community owns a whole big array of panels on top of a brewery, so the benefits of that flow back into the local community."
"Government alternatives are imported gas or expensive nuclear. With wind and solar you get many more jobs for each pound that you spend."
