Mountjoy School's new building has been shortlisted for a national award.
The new premises in Beaminster is up for a prize in the best education category of the Local Authority Building Control Excellence Awards.
The school which was built for 48 students with physical and learning difficulties has a state of the art sensory studio, a hydrotherapy pool and soft play room.
The rebuild was been designed and managed by Dorset Property - part of Dorset County Council - and delivered by Poole-based contractors Morgan Sindall.
Cllr Toni Coombs, cabinet member for education and communications at Dorset County Council said:
"It's great news that we've been shortlisted for a national award. All parties involved with the project worked very hard on designing and building a modern school that would meet the needs of its pupils now, and in the future.
"The Mountjoy project was in the pipeline for a number of years and pupils are now enjoying the space, technology and 21st Century facilities that they deserve. An award would be the 'icing on the cake'."
