Campaigners Ask Us To Say NOPE To Palm Oil Factory On Portland

weymouth and portland

7:43am 29th May 2013

A group opposed to the burning of palm oil at Portland Port to create electricity are calling on Weymouth and Portland Borough Council to look more closely at plans by W4B.

Pressure group NOPE,  'NO Oil Palm Energy', who have the support of the Green Party on the issue, say the company's position has changed since the original application.

They say by enhancing their palm oil burning capacity by burning biodiesel culled from waste tyres goes against the  original planning application and want the planning committee to look again at the issue.

NOPE spokesman Joe Borez says W4B can't have it both ways without a full examination of the facts.

The consultation period ends today. (29th May)
