Personal health budgets, which were first piloted in Dorset, will now be rolled out across the country.
The budgets are agreed with local NHS teams and cover the amount of money you need for your health care.
92% of Dorset patients whose healthcare was financed in this way said the saw an improvement to their physical health.
Roger Webb is Personal Health Budgets Manager with NHS Dorset CCG. He said "Personal Health Budgets allow people to have more choice and control about the provision of services to meet their individual needs and we welcome the decision to introduce the programme nationally. The team worked extremely hard on the pilot and we are delighted with the results that have been reported in the P.O.E.T survey".
The Government says personal budgets will now be offered around the country from March next year.
