There's an appeal out for a couple to come forward after a theft on The Promenade in Weymouth.

A woman had her handbag stolen while she was playing in the amusement park at Alexandra Gardens last Wednesday night (5th June).

Dorset Police want to speak with 2 people who were seen chatting with Beach Control just opposite where the incident happened.

An 18 year old man from Weymouth has been arrested on suspicion of theft and released on bail.

Police Constable Kerry Cordier, of Weymouth CID, said: “I believe that members of the public, a man and a woman who spoke to the beach control opposite the Alexandra Gardens at the time, may be able to assist with my enquiries.

“I am appealing for the couple to come forward and talk to police.

“I am also keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident.”
