Take A Leaf Out Of Our Book

Puddletown Library opening

6 months on and Dorset's first library to be officially taken over by volunteers is proving to be a success.

Wessex FM has been back in touch with helpers in Puddletown who took over the reins from the Council in January.

They've been busy making the library and more enjoyable place to read and find your favourite books. Shelving has been removed and a coffee machine installed to create a more open social experience for the community to meet and enjoy.

Former chairman Mike Chaney says they've also raised 2 thousand pounds that'll help them stay afloat: "Although we're not out of the woods we know we have the funds to jkeep goping for another 2 or 3 years. There's a new team in place running the library and they're more dynamic, I have every confidence that they're going to go from strength to strength".
