There are moves to bring people closer to their Neighbourhood Watch schemes in Dorset.
Dorset Police wants more residents to support their local teams and has organised a series of events across the county next week where people can learn more.
Nowadays, Neighbourhood Watch schemes extends to business premieses and into more rural areas too.
The initiative is all part of national watch week that runs from Saturday 15th June.
John Shave MBE, Chair of the Association of Dorset Watches, said: "Watch Schemes encourage residents to work together to reduce crime and the fear of crime, helping to build stronger communities.
"We are proud to support National Neighbourhood and Home Watch Week and I'd encourage people to get along to these fantastic events to find out more."
Police and Crime Commissioner Martyn Underhill said: "Neighbourhood Watch and Home Watch are fantastic ways for the community to bond together, helping to keep Dorset safe. I am humbled by how some of the Dorset Watches integrate communities and involve the public with policing. Please take this opportunity to look at how your community can become part of this fantastic joint venture."?
