A long Walk For South Dorset's MP
7:41am 13th June 2013
South Dorset's MP is swapping his shiny shoes that tread the halls of Westminster for a pair of walking boots for a coastline challenge.
Richard Drax, is hiking 20 miles along the Jurassic Coast from Swanage to Weymouth in support of local charitable causes MV Freedom and Impact.
Each charity helps youngsters and people with disabilities. MV Freedom is a specially adapted boat with disabled access so wheelchair users and their carers can enjoy the Dorset Coastline
Richard told us: 'I am told that the mackerel fishing days are particularly popular. Also, perhaps unexpectedly, some of the guests particularly enjoy the more blustery days where they get rocked about. Certainly, the Friends of MV Freedom deserve all the help they can get. They have kept this extraordinary service going free of charge for 25 years.'
Impact, runs street-based projects, which support and advise young people on drug and alcohol misuse, relationships and personal safety. Mr Drax will also walk In support for the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
The MP says anyone who fancies a challenge is welcome to join him on his ramble on July 27th. He'll start from the pier at Swanage at 7.30 am and arrive at the café at Preston, Weymouth, approximately eight hours later.
