Pay For Garden Waste Collections In West Dorset
12:03am 16th June 2013
If you're tired of cutting back your hedges and trimming your lawns and lugging it all to the tip - there might be another option.
Residents in parts of West Dorset can now pay to have a fortnightly garden waste collection from the council.
The Dorset Waste Partnership (DWP) has now agreed to extend this opportunity to West Dorset households in Dorchester, Broadmayne, the Cerne and Piddle Valleys, Charminster, Crossways, Osmington, Owermoigne, Puddletown and Tolpuddle.
Households can have their garden waste collected fortnightly all-year-round for an annual fee of £35 for a 240-litre wheelie bin or £25 a year for a 120-litre reusable bag. Residents will only need to pay part of the annual fee now to take them up to the renewal date in April.
The easiest way to apply and pay now is via the secure online form at www.dorsetforyou.com/gardenwaste. Alternatively, residents can pay over the phone by calling the DWP on 01305 221040.
Cllr Hilary Cox, Chair of the DWP Joint Committee, said:
"We are delighted to be able to offer the optional garden waste service to households in Purbeck and part of West Dorset following its successful take-up in Christchurch, East Dorset and North Dorset.
"The demand for the service shows that residents are happy to pay for a clean, green and convenient way to keep their garden tidy and protect the environment, which offers them good value for money."
