Local football was due to be back at Dorchester Town tonight but their first pre-season friendly against Wessex League champions Blackfield & Langley is OFF.
The Hampshire side couldn't raise a team.
Magpies Manager Phil Simkin told Wessex-FM it's been a difficult offseason with budget cuts and some star players leaving the club, including striker Kieffer Moore, but it's time to crack on.
"There's been a few changes but we've still got the vore of a very, very good side and we've been training now for nearly 2 weeks 3 times a week."
The gaffer says: "We'e got lots of lads to look at and we've had between 45 and 50 training, which is really gratifying to see them training, we're working towards it and it's gonna be a good for us to get going."
But Simkin says there's no question he needs some fire power upfront with Kieffer's departure for Championship side Yeovil.
"I feel more confident now than I did 4 or 5 weeks a go, we've got the core of a very good side BUT I need to add to it with Kieffer gone I need a front player at the club which isn't easy given the financial situation."
"Whether we can replicate what we did last season who knows, but we'll be doing our best to do that".
Dorchester get their league season underway on August 17th.
