Weymouth Town and Bridport Chasing Glory Today
9:05am 12th October 2013
Two of our local football teams are back on the hunt for silverware this afternoon, the third will be having a long hard think about how to save their season from complete disaster.
Weymouth Town are on the road in the 3rd qualifying round of the FA Cup to in-form Cirencester Town who've only lost 3 games in all competitions so far this current season.
The Terras have been decent on the road in the competition so far though, netting 5 goals in 2 games, compared to 2 in one match at the Bob Lucas.
Elsewhere, Bridport continue to chase league glory and play away to Bristol Manor. The Bees suffered a tough loss to Odd Down last weekend, 2-0 but are looking to bounce back and get off to a flying start this afternoon.
Bridport currently sit in the bottom third of the Toolstation Premier Division but a win and all 3 points could move them up 3 places to the middle of the table.
Boss Trevor Senior expects a tough game from the hosts who're in 8th place;
"They have a lot of players who won the league last year so they'll be strong. But results up there have been quite favourable for Bridport for the last 2 seasons - hopefully we can continue that."
And, struggling Dorchester Town have the weekend off. Recent financial woes have been an unwelcome distraction to the team with a handful of players leaving the club and Manager Phil Simkin having to recruit replacements while keeping the locker room morale from flat lining.
The Magies have plenty of time to get their act together; their next game is a week away against Maidenhead United. Can they claim just their second league win in front of a home crowd at the Avenue Stadium?
