Maria Greenwood
It’s a popular misconception that news readers are very serious and a bit dull – but dull is never a word I’d use to describe life as part of the Wessex FM News Team.
I’ve crawled through the Dorset undergrowth with David Bellamy, grappled with John Prescott over affordable housing and found myself hoisted 20 feet in the air on a JCB with a giant cheese!
I’m a Dorchester girl born and bred. I did my GCSE’s at Dorchester's Thomas Hardye School when it was known as Castlefield, and then went on to Weymouth College to do my A levels. I wanted to carry on with my education, but stay close to my family, and that’s how I ended up doing a degree in Multi-Media Journalism at Bournemouth University.
I first came to Wessex FM as a work experience student and from the moment I stepped through the door I knew radio was for me. It’s fast and furious. We break the news as it happens, and in times of crisis it’s the first place people turn to for information.
