Wessex fm’s Del Thompson and Steve Bulley compared the Dorchester Oxjam gig with six local bands on stage from 6pm. The evening started with sixteen year old talented solo singer Zak Harris who wowed the audience with his acustic set. The Blue Feeling were up next with their blue, funk sound, they like to be known as a jamming band and delivered a cool mix of original blues with a twist. Next up were four piece band The Yearning from Bryanston School who have been performing their own material for over three years. Thomas Hardye School band The Three Minute Hero’s were on stage next, the local Dorchester band have a big following and belted out an original indie punk set, including a cover of the Buzcocks ‘ever fallen in love’ which the crowd loved. Weymouth was represented by False Pretences, the three brothers and two friends have a reputation for raw live performances and they did not disappoint with their own brand of 70s influenced brit-rock. Finally the night ended with Memphis 56 an authentic rockabilly band complete rhythm guitar and double bass line up and quiff’s to match. With rockabilly taking hold of the music scene in a bid way 2007 looks like a great year for Memphis 56.
