What's happening in Dorset to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee
There are lots of events happening across Dorset to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of the Queen's accession to the throne, and we would love to know what you are doing!
A number of organisations have put together special events throughout the extended weekend of Saturday 2nd to Tuesday 5th June. These include:
Planting a Jubilee Wood, Bridport
Saturday 17th March
One hundred volunteers are needed to plant a trees for a commemorative wood at Allington Hill! The trees have come from the Woodland Trust and given to the Allington Hillbillies volunteer group. For more details email allingtonhill@gmail.com!
Beacon Lighting & Seafront Fireworks, Weymouth
Monday 4th June
Beacons will be lit across the country to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee at 10pm. Weymouth will mark this by lighting a beacon at the Nothe Fort, together with live music and fireworks!
Diamond Jubilee Party, Dorchester
Tuesday 5th June
The town is invited to a huge party in Borough Gardens, celebrating the six decades of the Queen's reign. Entertainment includes live music, films and pictures. Organisers are hoping the people of Dorchester will donate pictures, videos, or clothing - anyone who can help can call Dorchester Town Council on 01305 266861.
