VIDEO: Weldmar Hospice Midnight Walk

17th July 2016

I went along to Weymouth College to help get the Weldmar Hospice Midnight Walk underway for this year!

Owen, Ben, and I from Wessex FM joined the fundraisers from the charity and Jo Thompson from Dorchester Wellness Centre to warm up the 850 ladies before they embarked on a ten, six and a half, or five mile walk.

Approximately £75,000 was raised for Weldmar!

Check out our video highlights:

What to do with baby seagulls?

14th July 2016

Living right on the coast in Dorset, we're more used to seagulls than most, aren't we?

But recently, we've had two chicks nesting on our roof, and now they're a little bigger, they've started to (literally) spread their wings and explore a little.

One chick landed in our garden yesterday, while the other was perched precariously on the edge of the roof.  The one in the garden, as hard as he might try, couldn't fly more than a foot off the ground.

So what to do with him?  Try to help?  Leave him be?  I asked the good listeners of Wessex FM on Facebook, and here's a selection of advice.  My favourite ... move house!

Apart from playing the Birdie Song, this is really good advice!  Here's what the RSPB say...

Toyah tell us about 'Quadrophenia 2'

7th July 2016

It was great to have a chat with actress and punk legend Toyah on the Wessex FM Breakfast Show, ahead of her appearance at the Corn Exchange in Dorchester.

She told me more about her busy work schedule, including her appearance in the follow up to the classic movie Quadrophenia, and also that she's no stranger to this part of Dorset:

We play Human Hungry Hippos!

4th July 2016

Now and again, we like to spice up our Monday morning meetings at Wessex FM...

With a couple of skateboards, ill fitting kids crash helmets, two washing up bowls, and lots of brightly coloured balls, we had a go at Human Hungry Hippos!

We'd love to see what fun things you get up to at work!

I spotted a little cheating going on...

Our 5 favourite Caroline Aherne moments

2nd July 2016

I was gutted to hear about the sad death of comedian Caroline Aherne at the age of just 52.

I loved just about everything she was in, and of course she wrote as well as performing in The Fast Show, Mrs Merton, The Royle Family, and more.

Most recently, she narrated Gogglebox.

I've picked out some of my favourite Caroline Aherne moments:

Who hasn't said 'Scorchio!' when it's hot?

Denise Royle - a model mother!

Her iconic question to Debbie McGee as Mrs Merton

Mrs Merton takes Bernard Manning down a peg or two

Introducing baby Norma on The Royle Family special 'The Queen of Sheba' - Caroline's writing often mixed funny with sad and sentimental
