Video: Swimming with sharks - DONE!

22nd February 2017

Challenge 1 of 10 is now complete and what an experience swimming with sharks was!

As I arrived at Weymouth SEALIFE Adventure Park on Saturday I was full of nerves but also excitement.  I was welcomed by Kico, the Displays Supervisor, who went through the safety and pre-swim briefing. Next it was to get changed into my wet suit and head up to the top of the tank where I was to take the plunge and join the sharks in their environment.

As I was sat on the ledge waiting to jump in, all that was going through my head was ‘what are you doing and why are you doing this to yourself?’

Although I had a moment of madness, I was fully aware that I was taking on this challenge to help fund care for patients and their families in the future, who will need Weldmar’s services.

As I entered the tank and put my head under, I could very clearly see just how many sharks, sting rays and tortoises there were in the tank amongst many other fish. There were many more than I imagined and more than you can see from the viewing tunnel.

You can check out my video from the day here and there’s even some underwater footage so you can experience a little of what I did.

So challenge 1 is complete. Please keep donating at and check out my other challenges which you can join me on throughout 2017.

16th February 2017

We've all heard about the increasing problem of body image issues, with some surveys showing that up to 90% of women are 'highly dissatisfied' with their bodies.

Body shaming on social media has recently been highlighted.

Wessex FM listener Lucy Staddon-Snell is hosting a screening of a documentary called Embrace, made by Australian Taryn Brumfitt, which tackles the subject.

It's on at the Odeon at Brewery Square in Dorchester on 26th February at 3pm.

Lucy called to tell me more about it:

G4 sing live in Dorchester town centre!

14th February 2017

g4 and maria

We had a visit from 'Popera' band G4 today at Wessex FM!

They were runners up in the first series of The X Factor in 2004, and have had a number of successful albums and sell out live tours ever since.

They're playing at Weymouth Pavilion on 11th March, and have a brand new love songs album.

Maria, Ben and I from Wessex FM took them into the town centre, where they sang to gathering shoppers and handed out beautiful roses from P & M Read Florist on the Poundbury Road in Weymouth!
