matts colossal 10

As we head towards April, I will be slowly ticking off just some of my 10 challenges. The shark swim is complete, the 100 metre abseil is just over two weeks away and the London Marathon training will be over in just five weeks time.

However, these three challenges are just the tip of the iceberg and I am looking for more people to join me on the other challenges throughout 2017.

The ones that you can get involved with are:

  • Skydiving – Sunday 14th May
  • Wingwalking – Sunday 2nd July
  • 3 Peaks Challenge – 25th – 27th August (registration closes in just 3 weeks!)
  • 175 Mile Cycle Challenge – 22nd – 24th September

We will soon be in a position to confirm the route for the cycling challenge which is very exciting and registrations will be closing for the 3 Peaks Challenge very soon.

If you are interested in taking part in any of these challenges then please visit www.weld-hospice.org.uk/colossal10 and don’t forget, I’m doing all of these challenges to raise as much money as possible for Weldmar Hospicecare and you can support me at www.justgiving.com/colossal10

They're looking for the 'Captain of the Cove' - a young person to be in charge of the new Caribbean Cove!

Applicants must be aged between 7 and 11, and the winner will be chose by Sealife's very own Junior Executive Board, pictured above!

I caught up with them to find out more....

Enter the competition by Sunday 12th March here...

I went to see the reception class at Greenford School in Maiden Newton, who have created their own Bug Hotel!

They've constructed it from recycled material including old wooden pallets, bamboo, old bricks, straw, and clay pipes, to provide a haven for bugs, insects, and creepy crawlies!

They told me more about it:

Behind the scenes of Broadchuch Series 3

You may know, if you're a regular listener to Wessex FM, that our own DJ Owen is an extra in a number of films and television shows.

Most recently, he's been involved in Series 3 of Broadchurch, filmed in and around Bridport, of course.

You may have seen him behind Lenny Henry at Washingpool Farm Shop (renamed Flintcombe Farm Shop) in the first episode!

The show's plot is famously shrouded in secrecy, but Owen told me on the Breakfast Show what it's like being an extra, and how lots of people spotted him in that first episode, lurking behind Lenny!

Pictured top, three generations of the Holland / Brock families at Washingpool Farm Shop with Lenny Henry, who plays Ed Burnett.
