We are looking for a positive and energetic individual to join our busy Outdoor Sales department. Working with products such as compost, fencing, aggregates and outdoor planters, this rewarding but physically demanding role requires the holder to possess excellent customer service skills as well as the ability to communicate effectively with others, to merchandise products, carry out basic IT tasks and maintain the department to a high standard. This position does involve alternate weekend work and work in an outdoor environment. A full, clean driving license is essential for this role as training to drive a fork lift truck may be necessary.

 

 

 

 JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:                 Sales Assistant

 

 

 

Reporting to:           Department Manager

 

 

 

1.       PURPOSE OF THE  ROLE:

 

 

 

To assist with the day to day running of the department in accordance with company policy.

 

 

 

To build and maintain a high level of personal service to ensure total customer satisfaction.

 

 

 

2.       DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 

 

  1.  

Apply health & safety related good working practice.

  1.  

The role involves manual handling and will require some lifting and carrying in the furniture department.

  1.  

To be focused on achieving sales targets. To determine customers needs, offer information and advice and to link sell where appropriate.

  1.  

To offer prompt, warm and friendly greeting and to look after customers in a pleasant manner.

  1.  

To ensure product availability and maintain store displays to a high standard.

  1.  

To build up an excellent product knowledge within a merchandise group in order to be able to assist a customer from opening to closing a sale.

  1.  

To complete a sale using point of sale terminals and following sales procedures as instructed.

  1.  

To maintain a thorough knowledge of all procedures relating to transactions and to carry these procedures out accurately and efficiently.

  1.  

To deal with telephone enquiries and relay messages accurately.

  1.  

To be able to deal with customer complaints in a positive and sympathetic manner.

  1.  

To ensure a satisfactory standard of staff dress and grooming in line with Company guidelines.

  1.  

To ensure punctuality at all times.

  1.  

To pack/unpack merchandise carefully, checking quantities etc.

  1.  

Ensure all goods are correctly priced and coded.

  1.  

Display goods in an attractive manner and where necessary in date order replenishing as necessary from warehouse/stockroom etc.

  1.  

Advise Department Manager of any faulty/damaged goods and to raise correct paperwork for head office/suppliers.

  1.  

To ensure all ticketing and point of sale material is in place and current.

  1.  

To ensure the cleanliness, presentation and tidiness of stock in the morning and throughout the day.

 

Any other duties as required.

 

To be vigilant on the shop floor and to be aware of suspicious activity.

 

To follow the ‘service is security’ policy.

 

Ensure company security policies are adhered to at all times and that the premises are always left secure.

 

Use available resources efficiently and effectively.

 

Attend and contribute to management meetings as and when requested.

 

Comply with/implement all company policies.

 

Participate in any relevant in-service training.

 

Undertake appropriate personal and professional development activities.

4.    Salary and Package

 

 

 

 

Basic Salary

 

 

£8.21 per hour aged 20 +

£7.35 per hour aged 18-19

£5.25 per hour aged 15-16-17

Hours

 

36.75 hours per week.

5.6 weeks Holiday Pay (pro rata) including Bank Holidays
