Support for a lady with cerebral palsy and a learning disability.

The aim of the job is to provide support and assistance to a lady with Cerebral Palsy who is an extremely outgoing and friendly person.

A Personal Assistant is employed to help me live my life the way I choose. Getting the right assistance when I need it allows me to lead my life independently.  A Personal Assistant will enable me to do this by listening to what I want and following my instructions. It is therefore vital that an employee has good communication and listening skills.

The job involves assistance with a variety of tasks. Like most people, my days can vary so it is difficult to list every task that is expected of a Personal Assistant.

After a period of familiarisation with the duties, carrying out the tasks described below effectively will often require that the post holder help me make decisions based on my needs and wishes.

The job requires providing assistance with the following:

Social Tasks

  • Accompany on trips out in the community such as going to the shops and helping me with social distancing   
  • Support with socialising in the community visiting friends
  • Assist me with daily tasks cooking /cleaning planning meals
  • Assist me to visit the gym achieve my fitness goals
  • Assisting me to attend the hydrotherapy pool
  • Accompany me to local events
  • Accompany me to appointments e.g. GP and dentist.
  • Assistance to help me plan my days and set targets
  • Assist me to monitor and record bills
