This NES concert features Bruckner’s ‘Te Deum’ and Puccini’s ‘Messa di Gloria.’ The choir will be joined by an orchestra and professional soloists, all conducted by Matt Kingston.

The Te Deum is a hymn of praise and the title is taken from its opening Latin words, “Te Deum laudamus” meaning "We praise Thee, O God. “ Bruckner’s version was composed when he was about 60 and is amongst the most exuberant. He called the work ‘the pride of his life’. Full of contrasts, it seems designed to make sure that The Almighty is awake and paying attention.
Aged only 18, Puccini composed the Messa di Gloria as his test piece when graduating from music college in 1880. A joyous piece, it’s a clear glimpse into his future composing career. Imagine the casts of Tosca, La Boheme and Madame Butterfly attending church on Sunday morning after glorious performances the night before.

Tickets (£12, under 18's free) will be available in January from Bridport Music and Goadsby, both in South St. Bridport
