About:

Calling fun lovers and readers alike. Sturminster is planning its inaugural Literary Festival on June 15th as a fun day out for all the family with events both literary and musical taking place all day throughout the town. We are turning the town’s clock back to the time of Hardy, Barnes and Young and asking you to dress in Victorian costume and help us make Sturminster into a big Victorian party for the day. Don’t worry, all the organisers will be suitably attired and many of our retailers will also be joining in the fun. And yes, there is a competition for the best dressed Victorian family for which there will be prize. But if you’d rather not come in fancy dress that’s fine by us, just come along in your jeans and a T if that’s what suits.

As for the literature bit. Starting from 10.00am there will be plays and readings and music scheduled around the town with a whole programme of activities including singing groups, to dance troupes to performing actors to Victorian schooldays to a dialect session. There is a picnic station at the Recreation ground and the pubs and cafes promise to be ready for a small invasion. So remember June 15th and put it in your diary now.
