Island Community Action’s Annual Fundraiser Proves Auctions Speak Louder Than Words

From holidays, hampers and tall ship sailing to original art, beauty packages and theatre tickets, ICA’s upcoming Auction of Promises has a stack of fantastic lots up for grabs thanks to the generosity of local residents and businesses from across Dorset and beyond.

The charity fundraiser takes place on Saturday 28th September at the Jubilee Hall in Easton. Doors open at 7pm and a licensed bar will be available to help the evening along. Entry to the event is £5.00 and tickets can be picked up from the ICA office in Easton. A sausage and chip supper is included in the price.

All lots will come under the hammer of experienced auctioneer Antoinette Richards, from Duke's Auction House in Dorchester, who is offering her services free of charge for the evening.

Profits from this year’s Auction of Promises will go towards ICA's Silver Island project. Part funded by the National Community Fund’s: Reaching Communities programme, Silver Island supports older residents from across Portland and Wyke Regis through a range of activities and services, from befriending, lunch clubs and community transport to exercise and art classes, singing groups and Portland's Man Shed project.

ICA CEO, Kim Wilcocks, feels the Auction of Promises hits the perfect balance between fundraising and fun, “The team love this event because in addition to raising crucial funds to support our most vulnerable and isolated residents, it also provides a fantastic opportunity for people to get together and enjoy a great night out. A massive thank you to all those who have contributed towards making this evening possible.”
