3:25pm 22nd December 2014

Thousands of pounds are being invested to help get young people in Dorset ready for working life.

The £25,000 investment into The Employability Skills Board will be used to fund a range of activities from January to encourage and support the county's future workforce.

Lawrence Vincent, ESB board member, said: "The Employment and Skills Board is delighted and grateful for this funding from Dorset LEP. "

"These projects will help make Dorset's young people and those seeking employment more employable and as a result we will all benefit."

The events and activities are part of ESB's four key priorities:
- Up-skilling Dorset's current and future workforce to meet the needs of employers and contribute to economic growth.
- Raising the aspirations, employability and entrepreneurial capability of Dorset's young people.
- Supporting Welfare to Work Initiatives that aim to address unemployment, poverty and families with complex issues to reduce the number of economically inactive people.
- Creating an environment that supports successful enterprise start-ups.

It's part of the Dorset LEP's Strategic Economic Plan that aims to deliver jobs and growth.
