The Dorset Kidney Fund has netted more than £1,000 from Battens Solicitors' annual beach volleyball tournament in Weymouth.

A local legal firm has helped net over £1,000 for The Dorset Kidney Fund.

Battens Solicitor's annual beach volleyball tournament in Weymouth managed to serve up the money thanks to the competition held in August.

Cherise, a lawyer in the Battens Weymouth office which organises the volleyball contest, said: "It was another very successful year for the tournament.

"Our thanks go to the local businesses involved, the Weymouth Volleyball Club and Weymouth and Portland Borough Council for their tremendous support, which has allowed us to again present more than £1,000 to a very deserving local charity."

"We are very proud of just how popular the tournament has become and we're looking forward to another successful event this year."

The funds will go directly to providing advice and support for the charity's 400 members in the county.

This year's charity beach tournament - the eighth annual event - will be on Thursday July 23rd, in its traditional slot on the eve of the Volleyball Classic tournament.

Teams wishing to take one of the 32 spaces at the charity tournament can register their interest on the Battens Solicitors website at www.battens.co.uk.
