The first event by a new partnership for landlords in Weymouth, Portland and West Dorset is being held today.

The Borough Council and West Dorset District Council are hosting a spring seminar in Dorchester later.

Weymouth and Portland Borough Council's Head of Housing, Clive Milone said: "Our seminars have offered great value to member landlords as well as the council, providing a welcomed opportunity to meet, share views and discuss all matters affecting the private renting sector."

Building on the success of a previous West Dorset Accredited Landlords scheme, the Landlords Local Authority Partnership has received a strong level of support and welcomed members from Weymouth and Portland.

The scheme seeks to recognise responsible landlords committed to maintaining good standards in the private rented sector.

The free seminar will be held at South Walks House offices, between 5.30pm and 8pm tonight.

To join the scheme, applicants are required to sign a declaration agreeing to keep their properties safe and meet their other obligations and responsibilities as landlords.

In return they'll be able to enjoy benefits such as free quarterly newsletters, invitations to biannual landlords seminars, a dedicated inbox for landlord queries, and priority access to grants and loans.
