50 new jobs are being created in Dorchester with a multi-million pound plan to refurbish two of the town's nursing homes.

Formerly known as Avenue House Care Home, Badbury Care home in Weymouth Avenue is now managed by local Weymouth based care provider, Agincare Homes Holdings.

Badbury is currently trading, whilst Maumbury Nursing Home next door which used to be known as Greenbushes is undergoing a complete refurbishment, with plans to open this summer.

The combined project will bring over 45 new care and nursing beds to Dorchester.

Agincare's Jo Palmer,  the UK's first 'Consultant Admiral Nurse' in partnership with Dementia Uk, will be working  to ensure the highest standards of care and support for high dependency dementia and clinical nursing.

"Agincare is first and foremost a care company and, as such, we continually strive to improve the standards and quality of care.  We already have an excellent team in place at Badbury Care Home and with Agincare's substantial investment and our approach to quality care will ensure that we will be able to provide the highest quality of care at a fair price." said Agincare's CEO Raina Summerson.

Regular passers-by will already see some improvements and will be able to keep an eye on the project as the original features of these character buildings are restored and  the interiors made 'fit for the future'
