The owner of the Taste Cafe on Chesil Beach is calling for immediate action to repair the car park.

Todd Moffat says the on-going pot hole issue is getting even worse and is starting to cause damage to customer vehicles.

The parking charges also doubled last month.

"It's really got quite bad. The rain has taken away all the gravel, the holes have got bigger the cars are getting damaged and people are getting fed up of parking there.  The car park is in a terrible state they've just put the prices of and there are no bins!"

"We employ quite a lot of local people and the feedback from them and their parents is they don't like to come down and use the car park because they think their vehicles are going to get damaged. And now all they [the council] have just put up a big sign wavering sign up wavering any liability caused to cars damaged in the car park."

In a statement to Wessex FM Jack Creeber, Parking & Transport Manager at Weymouth & Portland Borough Council said:

"Chesil Beach car park is made up of a granular structure and is constantly moving, this combined with a high water table makes the car park difficult to keep in good condition.

"The borough council is currently exploring options to find a solution.

"Parking prices set out a seasonal charging system in order to provide local residents with cheaper charges out of season.
"Borough parking prices are still cheaper or in-line with other seaside resorts across the South West."
